Haven't made time to journal in the past couple of days. Since my last entry we have had a long 13 nautical mile travel day. We completed a large channel crossing which was a huge step for our group. We camped along a very pretty beach but woke up to pouring rain again - pretty depressing. We continued on for another 8-mile day to a sandy beach in a large cove. We had a wonderful layover day during which we got to sleep in a little bit and spend the afternoon doing stroke clinics in the kayaks.
Today we traveled about 13 or so miles and saw our first icebergs from the glacier! It was an incredible sight. As we paddled through the icebergs, one of the more massive bergs broke in half - making a thunderous roar as it bobbed and repositioned itself in the water. Everyone immediately stopped paddling and watched this rare event, jaws dropped in utter awe.
Seeing the ice today was so cool and surreal but it was a stark reminder of just how far away I am from home - an exciting and scary thought. I've been missing Mom and Dad a lot lately. Wishing I could talk to them and tell them that I am happy, healthy, and having the time of my life.
Not feeling well tonight. Going to go to bed early and praying that sleep will be the cure.
