February 06

Landlocked again. Day #5 on this beach. Our instructors had us in go-mode this morning because we woke to partially sunny skies - a gift after being blasted with storms. As the day went on, the conditions got steadily worse. We did re-ration today and I got a new tent group - Miles and Mark. We seem like a good team thus far, I'm definitely looking forward to the next ten days.
Although I'm getting a bad case of cabin (island?) fever, I'm starting to get used to this lifestyle. As each day passes, life at home seems more distant and unfamiliar. I'm so grateful to be where I am. I feel like I lost myself in the insanity of school and life this past semester. Being disconnected from the world allows for much needed reflection and clarity in my thoughts. I am rediscovering what I have always loved - being way the hell out here and living the simple life. Nothing gets better or more real than this.
